Aw Tee Hong

Born in 1932 in China, Hainan Province, Aw relocated to Singapore and graduated Nanyang Academy of Fine Artsin 1954 and Central Academy of Arts & Design Beijing, China in 1958. Aw's has successfully held 14 exhibitions over the last two decades featuring works of a wide variety viz., water colour, oil painting, portraiture, mural, wood carving and sculpture. His achievements also include the eye-catching sculptures that are prominently located in the heart of Singapore's financial district, e.g. "Pioneering Spirit" and "Struggle for Survival" outside the Raffles Place MRT; "Dancer" which is located at the public square outside the Ministry of Community Development; "In Safe Hands" (bronze sculpture) installed at the entrance of the Singapore Civil Defence Academy; "Mother and Child" commissioned by the Kandang Kerbau Hospital for its new premises; "Epic of Singapore" (polymarble mural inside the Tanjong Pagar MRT Station, "Singapore Culture" found inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium and "Mosaic Designs" which are 100 ft long are also mounted permanently on the walls of a school.
